Museum Education, Mobile Technology, and Integration of Muslim Learners

Grant recipient: Wayne State University

The project will integrate technology with museum education, promoting museums and technology as educational community resources for informal education. There will be six museum visits to promote appreciation of visual arts (e.g., calligraphy, textiles, architecture), culinary arts (e.g., food replicas, utensils, ingredients) and performing arts (e.g., musical instruments with audio sounds, dance video, photographs of musicians with record displays). Using mobile devices to promote integrative process, the participants will, using parent-child dyads, electronically document their appreciation for their Islamic heritage cultural identity, along with other ethno-cultural/non-Islamic American groups (e.g., European-Americans, Asian-Americans, Native-Americans, and Hispanic–Americans).
