The CTN Board voted to award grants for project proposals submitted in January-February, 2021. Grants were awarded to:
University of Michigan Architecture Preparatory Program (ArcPrep) to expand its Detroit-based program to a 60 student cohort and provide online and/or hybrid instruction by creating ArcPrep Online. CTN’s grant award will support the program’s goal of empowering the next generation of Detroit leaders through design education, directly engaging students with inspiring practitioners, and offering pathways to postsecondary education in professions related to the built environment.
Oakland Schools for a multi-year countywide initiative to expand STEM education and promote STEM careers. The primary audience is students in grades 4-7 with specific strategies to target schools and/or districts with students from underserved populations. The grant supports a travelling mobile STEM lab and a STEM equipment checkout system providing teachers and students with ready access to equipment and teaching/learning materials for crucial hands-on, project-based learning
