Wayne RESA is a previous recipient of a multi-year CTN grant that enabled creation of three different Maker cohorts, comprised of educators throughout the county to collaborate and learn together. As result of the multi-year RESA initiative, 93 educators from 36 schools in 22 public school districts and two public school academies were provided with professional learning and materials to help build capacity for maker-centered learning in their schools. RESA also hosted three in-person Maker-STEM Summits at The Henry Ford and one virtual summit where over 650 educators have come together to be immersed in the maker mindset and to engage in hands-on learning to expand maker and STEM opportunities for students. This new grant project will expand STEM/STEAM/Maker opportunities to K-12 districts through skill-building and professional development for educators. The project is intended to:
- Establish a Maker-Centered Learning Community to grow capacity around maker-centered learning and STEM education
- Host a Maker-STEM Summit to provide maker-centered learning and STEM education learning opportunities
- Provide making and STEM education professional learning opportunities to educators
