CTN awarded funding for this professional learning experience specifically designed for school library media professionals in in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. The professional learning experience will address the unique needs of this group which is often underrepresented in professional development opportunities. At a time when our mental health is profoundly linked to the ways we obtain information and connect with others, the work of helping learners build healthier relationships with the devices and platforms they use most feels more urgent than ever. The featured speaker will be Jennifer LaGarde, author of From Media Literacy to Media Mindfulness. LaGarde will share actionable strategies for using picture books with learners of all ages, to help them develop the habits and dispositions of media mindfulness: a new twist on information literacy that applies the principles of mindfulness to our hyperconnected lives.
